What You Can Do To Keep Your AC In Great Shape
Keeping your air conditioner operational is important, especially when you live in the Lexington, SC, area. After all, Lexington’s temperature usually exceeds 80 degrees Fahrenheit in April and gets much hotter from there. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to ensure your AC keeps running!
Change Your Air Filter as Needed
Changing your air filter isn’t a very difficult or time-consuming task, yet it seems to get forgotten often. Sadly, doing this can lead to AC problems, including a frozen evaporator coil and a reduction of cool air coming out of your vents. If you check your filter and see that it’s dirty, it’s definitely time to replace it. Even better, you should replace your filter several times a year. This will help take pressure off your air conditioning unit and allow it to run more efficiently.
Check Your Condensate Line
It’s vitally important to keep an eye on your air conditioner’s condensate line. Leaving it alone until it becomes clogged is a terrible idea, which may even cause your entire AC unit to stop working. What happens is that the condensate drain line can become clogged and will start trapping water inside your AC.
If this remains unchecked, it will lead to the evaporator coil becoming a block of ice. Finally, the moisture inside the line will freeze, and this causes the air conditioner to stop working. Instead, have your condensate drain line checked frequently to keep everything working properly.
Give Your AC Room to Breathe
An air conditioner requires some space, so be sure to give it at least eight to 12 inches all the way around. Additionally, ensure that the area right around the AC unit stays uncluttered. Failure to do so can lead to AC problems.
When it comes to keeping your air conditioning in good shape, you can trust the professional technicians at Killman Heating & Air. Discover more about how we keep AC units in good repair by visting our website!
